Most AOG chapters center their activities around cadet, active duty
officer, and organizational issues concerning the United States Air Force
Academy and the USAF. The AFASW, a non-profit organization, is open to all
USAFA graduates, focuses primarily on members’ growth through business,
networking, and career transition preparation.

As of April ‘98, 174 members had graduated between 1959 and 1969,
105 between 1970 and 1979, and 30 since 1980.
We have meetings between September and June, averaging one every
two months when we invite a guest speaker or a visit a business. There’s a
social event each year and an art auction every other.
Guest speakers have included Chairmen, Vice Presidents, and senior
corporate officers of FedEx, Gulfstream, USAA, Orbital Sciences, SRA, First
Albany, and others. We’ve also had government leaders (e.g., Congressmen and
the first USAFA graduate to become Chief of Staff of the Air Force) speak at
events. We’ve visited a NASA flight center, a cablenews station, and
conducted a business simulation at Georgetown University. We’ve also been
privileged to participate with Habitat for Humanity help build homes in the
Metropolitan DC region.

A volunteer Board of Directors elected from
the membership directs the organization. There are standing committees
(Membership, Programs, Communications, and Special Projects) which coordinate
offerings throughout the year.
Go to the new membership form, fill it in, print it out, enclose a
check and send it to us. (As we’re volunteer organization, allow 3
weeks to receive your email with user-id and password to access your record in
our on-line database.) Once you’re a member, you’ll receive a printed
directory of our membership (published each December) and invitations to
events.
